Telltale Signs You're In Desperate Need Of A Vacation

For many of us, vacations have been off the table for a long time. All we’ve done is stay in our homes and work. But even though we’ve been out less than usual, we haven’t always managed to keep burnout at bay. It’s still a very real threat in our lives.

We all know what it feels like to be desperate for a vacation. The weeks seem to drag on and on, and all you’re doing is counting down the days until you finally get off work.

But thanks to the coronavirus, actually getting away from it all hasn’t been easy. Public health officials have been on a field day, locking us down, making sure that we stay in our homes.

Going on a break, however, is slowly getting easier. As vaccination efforts advance, more countries are opening their borders. And many are allowing visitors with negative fit-to-fly private COVID test results.

So what are some telltale signs you’re in desperate need of a vacation? Here’s the list:

You Keep Making Mistakes At Work

Making the odd mistake here and there at work is okay. But if you keep doing it, it’s a sure sign that your body needs a break. Plus, your boss isn’t likely to take too kindly to it either.

Whether you realize it or not, being at work takes its toll on your brain and body. Eventually, you need space to release the tension and strain and get back in touch with your essential nature.

Even The Smallest Problems Are A Big Deal

When you’re operating on a knife-edge, even the smallest problems in your life seem like a big deal. Getting cut up in traffic or losing your temper with somebody is a sure sign you need to take a break and recalibrate.

Your Personal Relationships Are Suffering

When you’re stressed out of your brain, your personal relationships can suffer tremendously. You’re so busy thinking about all the things you need to do for work that you forget all about the needs of the other person (or people) in your life.

Sometimes the problem can get so bad that your work becomes your life, and you can’t tell the difference between the two.

Work should only be your life if you’re having fun. If you’re just doing it for money, then you need a clear separation. Otherwise, it will dominate everything you do, both inside and outside your role.

You Can’t Sleep

Work can get you “worked up” to such a point that you’re not able to sleep anymore. And when this happens, it can make it even harder to cope with the working day.

Going on vacation allows you to “reset.” It lets the tension flow out of your body and quiets your mind, especially if you go to a spa. In turn, this makes it much easier to get to sleep at night. You’re not constantly thinking about the next day at the office.

So, do you have any of these signs that you’re in need of a vacation?
