Best Birthday Cupcakes For Your Loved Ones- Happy Cakes Review

It was my best friend's birthday a few days ago, and it's his special 24th birthday. Now, I know that you may think it's crazy of me to get him a cake, but it's the first time that I've ever celebrated his birthday with him together. I wanted something unique, fun and happy to celebrate this special day, and I want to show you one of the best birthday cakes that I've ever seen! Today, I'm going to feature a special, lovely cupcake shop called Happy Cakes, an Oxford-based cupcake shop that makes some of the cutest, cheeriest cupcakes that I've ever seen!

A bit about the shop- owned by Julia, the owner's love for cupcakes, baking and making beautiful edibles started when she was young. At 16 years of age her Dad, John, said “you’re only good at art and cookery, you’d better stick to cookery, there’s no money in art!” As a result of this Julia spent 2 years at a catering college in Blackpool, and the next 4 completing a catering degree course at Oxford Brookes University. This was followed by 11 years as Catering Manager at St Cross College, Oxford University, much of which was spent making desserts for special events and creating the legendary Governing Body Teas!

Founded in 2009, Happy Cakes makes sure that all their cupcakes are fun, beautiful and best of all, happy! I was lucky enough to be able to try a special giant cake that Julia made for me, which was customized because I wanted a bear-shaped cake. Note that Julia focuses on making cupcakes for customers, so this is a rather special, "large" cupcake (or so you may call it)! Take a look below!

As you can see, the cake is so lovely and gorgeous. Every little detail is meticulously made by Julia, and all of the little details are spot on. I sent Julia a photo of a brown bear because I thought it was cute, and she was able to replicate the cake pretty much perfectly. I also love the little details on the cake, for example the oreo ears, the pink heart-shaped noses and the upturned smile of the bear. The bear's features are made with delicious icing, which tasted brilliant, and the oreos were crunchy and fresh!

In terms of the cake's size and feel, the cake was around 7-inches in diameter, which was able to feed around 7-8 people. In fact, the cake is pretty tall, so the cake looks much larger than it looks in the photos! I ate a huge slice during my friend's birthday party, and it was so delicious. The chocolate icing on the outside tasted brilliant, with the perfect mix of sweet and sugary dancing on my tongue, and the inside of the cake also had an extra layer of chocolate icing. Talk about sweetness and yumminess!

Happy Cakes specialises in cupcakes, so you can order customized cupcakes of all shapes and sizes. The shop is able to customise your orders to your preference, and you can simply email Julia with your requirements. I also love how they can make logo cupcakes which are perfect for business or corporate events, such as college meetings, college parties and different Oxford-styled parties!

Overall, I'm super impressed with Happy Cakes and I can't thank Julia enough for making me this special cake. The shop's cupcakes tastes amazing, and looks equally as appealing, and they are absolutely delightful to look at (and eat)! I think they'd made great birthday presents for men and women, no matter how old your loved ones are.
