How Your Garden Can Ease Stress

Spending time in the great outdoors is a good way to ease your stress levels. Your garden can be turned into a special place for you to retreat to when you need to relax. If your garden is currently a source of stress instead of an oasis of calm, then you can make things more calming with these simple ideas.

Make A Secluded Nook

You don’t need to have a large garden to create a place that is relaxing to spend time in. A secluded spot in the garden is the ideal place to get some time by yourself to unwind. Close off an area using fence panels, trellis, pergolas, or tall plants to create some privacy. Call pergola installers to make you a nook. Climbing plants on fences or trellis create a natural wall that is both beautiful and a good way to give you some space away from prying eyes.

Plant Fragrant Plants

Aromatherapy is a very popular tool for relaxation, and a lot of people already use things like scented candles to relax inside their homes. You can also add these scents that you find soothing into your garden with some fragrant plants. Create beds of fragrant flowers near where you like to sit, such as lavender, with scents that soothe you without being too strong.

Add Some Comfortable Seating

If you’re going to find your garden relaxing, then you need a comfortable place to sit. Put out a few comfortable seats so you can relax. The best options for outdoor seating are waterproof and easy to keep clean, so they will last a long time even if you leave them outside.

Add some outdoor cushions for extra options for places to sit if you’d like to use the garden for entertaining.

Buy Wind Chimes

Hang a few wind chimes near where you sit in the garden to add to the atmosphere of calm. Both bamboo and metal wind chimes can make very soothing noises and will hold up well to being exposed to the elements. Hang a few sets for a combination of relaxing sounds.

Build A Water Feature

Water is very soothing. A small pond or a water feature can be ideal for your garden. A lot of people find the noise of running water makes them feel much calmer. The sound of it can also help to disguise other sounds. This could be ideal if you live near a busy road with a lot of traffic noise, or if your neighbours have a loud dog or young children. The water can disguise these sounds that might be making your garden less calming.

Choose Something Spiritual

If you’re a spiritual person, you could add something like small statues of figures that you find comforting into your garden. This could be something like a Buddha statue, statues of angels, or perhaps a meaningful quote engraved on a plaque. Give yourself something to focus on while you’re using the garden to destress.
