I Learned How To Make A Terrarium! My Indytute Experience and Review

Hey everyone! I recently discovered Indytute, an amazing website that lets you gift fun and unusual experiences to your friends and family (or even to yourself). The website lets you purchase tickets to unique experiences such as wine tasting, cocktail making, exercise classes, London bar tours and more for your loved ones. The site is quite new and they recently launched, so they have lots of new experiences for you to try.

I love trying new things, and I'm always up for an adventure. I decided to try this amazing Terrarium Design School group class that is taught by a lovely lady called Alyson Mowat in her studio in Shoreditch. It costs 65 pounds, which is more affordable than buying a terrarium from a store. Not to mention, I get to learn something completely new and exciting! I went to the class in the morning and voila- look what I came home with! Take a look below!

As you can see, the terrarium design school gave me an amazing experience. My finished product was created through the the span of 1.5 hours, and the lovely teacher Alyson taught us how to anchor the plants, make the tools required to create a terrarium, how to add gravel to the bottom, how to put charcoal in the mix to act as a filter, and everything else about how to care for the terrarium. She was patient, friendly and an excellent hostess- we even got bubbles and drinks as part of the deal! I took some photos of the process of making the terrarium below.

As you can see from my photos, the process was not easy. We first created the tools required to make the terrariums, including fastening spoons and forks through bamboo pieces. The jars were provided for, as with the plants, soil and gravel. The teacher was patient and kind, and helped us through all of the steps. There were around 14 people in the group today, and everyone had a good time talking and sharing plants during the time we were potting away!

As for my design, I added some red and green plants and levelled the soil so that it created a gentle slope. The moss was added because it was an indicator of how wet or dry the terrarium was. Apparently, these terrariums can last for years with the proper care and skill. I hope mine can last for years and I'm really happy that I went to this class.

Thank you Indytute for giving me a fantastic experience that I wouldn't have tried otherwise. Please visit their site: www.indytute.com
