The cold winter is officially in full swing in both Hong Kong and the UK and I'm really excited to share with you my latest winter haul. I got lots of fine merino wool clothing from OBR Merino, a lovely luxurious clothing brand originating from New Zealand. Founded by Jan Turley, the brand specialises in providing high-quality and beautiful merino wool knitted clothing for women. What's special about OBR Merino is that everything made by them is extremely high in quality. They make most of their items using 100% fine merino wool, which means that it's perfect for the cold, dreary winter.
I have been wanting some warm items for a while now- I'm tired of the sweaters that I own which are made from polyester or acrylic, as these fabrics aren't warm at all. OBR Merino manufactures everything locally in New Zealand using extremely detailed precision and attention to detail, and everything is cold-proof and fabulous!
Here's a detailed review of my giant haul from their shop!
1) Merino Hooded Asymmetric Top- this gorgeous hooded merino top is one of the brand's signature items as it's extremely fashionable and flatters women of al shapes and sizes. This top features a lovely little hood at the top and black drawstrings which you can adjust at the front. It also has a pocket at the front and an asymmetrical hemline which makes the top stand out from the crowd. The design is truly unique and I've never seen such an interesting top in my life!
In terms of quality and fit, this beautiful top is made from the best quality merino wool that I've ever seen. It's smooth, soft and comfortable, and all of the brand's wool are sourced from the finest sheep which means that the garment is built to last and much better than other merino wool clothing brands. The size that I got is Small, which fits me really well. I love wearing this top in a variety of ways, including pairing it with a skirt, leggings and just on it's own. It's super stylish and chic too.
I love the oversized look as it looks extra stylish without too much effort. It's really cold in the UK and Hong Kong, so a merino wool top is just what I needed for those cold winter days. Merino wool is great as it can be worn in the summer too, so this top is super versatile and weather-friendly.
2) Merino Batwing Top with Bottom Band- this gorgeous functional batwing top that I got from OBR Merino impressed me a lot. This versatile top really impressed me as it is extremely fine and made from high-quality materials. I found that this top pairs well with anything in my closet, and it is quite classic in design so I can wear this top with my casual outfits.
As for the details, the top features a loose lower area and a high neck, which protects your chest from the cold winds, and is slim-fitting so it nips and tucks at all the right places. This top is particularly flattering for girls who have athletic bodies, as it would enhance the shoulder while hiding the midsection really well.
I love the quality- the top is soft, not heavy and perfectly made. It doesn't feel itchy or scratchy at all. In fact, the wool is as smooth and fine as it gets. The navy blue colour is also super cool, and matches with pretty much anything in a girl's wardrobe. Everything's stitched on perfectly and there's not a single loose thread. It would be lovely for women of all ages, and would make an excellent present for your mother, girlfriend or sister. OBR Merino's quality is fantastic and everything's manufactured to perfection.
A cool way to style a merino wool top is tucked in to a skirt- when you pair it with some heels and a jacket, it will look amazing. Another way is to style it with a cool pair of trousers and some white trainers, for a more "street-style" look. I even tried to wear it with a pair of shorts and it looks great. It's so versatile that everyone really needs to try this gorgeous OBR Merino top. I also like to bring this top with me on my travels, as it's lightweight and easy to pack.
Overall, I'm so happy with my items from OBR Merino. They are really the best shop out there if you're after 100% New Zealand merino wool clothing, and you can't go wrong with a decent, affordable tops and dresses to prepare yourself for this cold, cold winter.
