It's like a form of magic- the Lix 3-D printing pen (http://lixpen.com) was created because existing 3-D pens are heavy, bulky and not beautiful to look at. The old 3-D pens were uncomfortable and unportable, whereas the Lix 3-D pen could be plugged into any USB socket and be powered up immediately. The project already exceeded it's Kickstarted goal of £30,000, with over quadrupled the amount pledged.
How do you use it? You simply insert a thin plastic tube at the end, like feeding in a mechanical pencil, and then you can start drawing straight into thin air. Shapes will dry out immediately from the melted plastic, and you can create stunning masterpieces like the ones below with this amazing pen!
"We are using micro planetary gear motor, special innovative material with a very low thermal conductivity and many other things such as another gear box for the filament supply system."- Lix team
Think of all the wonderfully imaginative things you can do with this pen, including drawing on your cut-out t-shirt, creating necklaces, bracelets, models of anything and everything, joining random pieces of shapes together, and so on. They are so beautiful and gorgeous, and the best thing is that you can make it instantly, and hold the finished product in your hands!
Since the early backing Lix pens on Kickstarter are all gone, the pen will go on sale for £85 which includes three bags of mixed colour plastic tubes to feed in. The Lix pen is expected to start shipping in September- December 2014. I would love to get one for myself since 3-D printing seems to be a new trend and let's face it, this is extremely fashionable, cool and can "wow" all your friends.
What do you think of this awesome pen?
