Reviewing My Mini Wired Chair- by Bannavis Andrew Sribyatta

Today, I want to review and talk about my latest thrift haul, this mini wired metal chair by artist and architect Bannavis Andrew Sribyatta. I'm going to feature this awesome designer whose work I've always admired.

A bit about the designer- Bannavis Andrew Sribyatta is a Thai-born architect, designer, and educator known for blending architecture, interior design, and sustainable furniture into his design philosophy. He is the Managing Director of DAD Architects, where his work spans residential, commercial, hospitality, and cultural projects across Asia and the United States. Educated in the US, Sribyatta earned his Bachelor of Architecture from Pratt Institute and a Master of Architecture from Columbia University, grounding his practice in both rigorous theory and hands-on design. 

Sribyatta is widely recognised for his contribution to sustainable furniture and product design. He co-founded Project Import Export (PIE), a multidisciplinary design studio focused on nature-inspired, environmentally responsible furniture. His designs often explore organic forms, material honesty, and the relationship between the built environment and the natural world. 

Anyhow, I bought this mini wired sculpture designed by Bannavis. It's probably a prototype or a model of his bigger works which I also own. Take a look below!

I first noticed this mini wired chair sculpture  by Bannavis Andrew Sribyatta for sale because it I already had two of his bigger pieces, which looks EXACTLY like this sculpture. I think that’s exactly what drew me in. What I really like is the woven wire body. I feel there’s something deeply aesthetic about it. The lines aren’t perfect or overly controlled; they overlap, tighten, loosen, and loop back on themselves. I think it almost feels like an artwork that I used to see in museums or design shops.

Even though it’s made from metal, it doesn’t feel cold or too hard. I actually feel a softness in it, visually at least, like a nest or a cocoon. The miniature proportions are beautiful and aesthetic- the rounded seat, the gentle rise of the back, and then those slim, angular legs that feel so architectural. 

I think the contrast between the expressive woven top and the precise metal legs is what makes the piece work so well. I also love how it sits on four thin metal legs. I feel it turns the chair into something almost like a designer object. 

I put it on my display shelf in the corner of my living room and it's simply stunning. I'm thinking of starting a collection of Bannavis's artwork so stay tuned!
