For those of you who's been following my blog, you know that I love shopping for my man. It makes me feel good when he looks good, do you know what I mean? Anyway, since my partner got a new job recently, I decided to gift him a new shirt for his birthday. I ordered a lovely custom-made shirt from WHT Shirtmakers, a premium custom, bespoke and luxurious shirt maker from the UK.
What's so special about them? WHT Shirtmakers provide finest handmade shirts to the highest standards in the truly traditional style, and they're nothing like the mass fast-fashion that you see in other shirt shops. Other shirt shops make their shirts using pre-existing shirts, but WHT Shirtmakers prefers to start from scratch. Yes, that's right! They make the shirt completely from beginning to end, making sure it fits your every need.
They're also very British, so all their materials and styles are clean, simple and elegant. Getting a shirt from them means that you're going to get a classic shirt, and I mean in a traditional British gentlemanly sense! Without further ado, let's move onto my experience of ordering from them for the first time!
A labour of love- my lovely WHT Shirtmaker shirt!
WHT Shirtmakers uses a simple and accessible online platform where you can choose fabrics and enter the measurements of your choice. I chose a checkered, blue/white fabric with a windowpane pattern because I thought it looked fancy and elegant. They have lots of other choices too, but once you select the material, another screen pops up and you get to enter your measurements. There's a fully customized option where you can enter more measurements too!
Once ordered, the shirt takes around 4 weeks of the order. This is a fairly reasonable time, and is quite quick compared to other shops that I've used before! Anyways, my shirt arrived within a month and it was wrapped beautifully in a black bag.
Quality-wise, it's excellent. The stitchings are all perfectly sewn and there were no loose threads or any imperfections. The buttons also looked strong and sewn on well, and the shirt had the exact customized collars and handcuffs that I wanted. The shirt is 100% made from cotton and felt lovely and soft when I unwrapped it for inspection. It also has real peal buttons, which is a rarity as many other shops use fake pearl buttons.
Fun fact: The best way to test if buttons are made from real peals is that when the buttons against your teeth, it produces a sharp "click", while plastic will produce a duller sound, more like a "clack."
In terms of the fit, I think the shirt fits really well. Compared to other shirts that my man owns, this shirt is very form-fitting and fits in all the right places. It was actually really spot on, as my boyfriend had wide shoulders and a narrow waist, and a lot of shirts don't fit at the right places. I'm really happy with it, but if you're not, their customer service team will help you get a better fit.
Overall, I'd rate WHT Shirtmakers a solid 5/5 due to their impeccable designs, quality service and beautifully-made luxurious shirt. They also sell women's shirts so I might just get one for myself!
