Designer Furniture Haul: Flexform Carlotta Chair by Antonio Citterio Review

Today's exciting post is all about chairs- specifically, my dining chairs that I bought from Flexform. I got them secondhand, but the quality and designs are incredible. Take a look at some photos of my Carlotta chairs!

A bit about the Flexform Carlotta Chair- fully made in in Italy, the Carlotta chair was designed by Antonio Citterio for Flexform in 1996. It was supposed to be a folding chair, but the Carlotta was reinterpreted in a contemporary vein with a light hand and a pitch-perfect marriage of sophisticated materials, like metal and cowhide. The joint screws, clearly visible on the metal structure, emphasise the austere, unornamented design that sets this armchair apart. The frame is satined chrome and the upholstery is dark brown leather with matching stitching.

I got them from an online marketplace for a very affordable price. The quality of these chairs speak for themselves- they are sturdy, incredibly heavy and just firm all-over. The beautiful saddle leather comes in a dark brown colour and is extremely smooth to sit on. The chair is also very well-designed, neither too large nor too small.

Now, what I love about Antonio Citterio is that his style is quite distinct. Clean lines, hard edges, but also incredible aesthetic- his designs reflect a cool, laid-back yet high-end luxurious style that was shaped by his Italian upbringing. Antonio Citterio currently works in the industrial design sector with companies such as Ansorg, Arclinea, Axor-Hansgrohe, B&B Italia, Flexform, Flos, Hermès, Iittala, Kartell, Maxalto, Sanitec (Geberit Group), Technogym and Vitra.

The chair comes with a seat cushion if you order from their official website. The seat cushion is padded with polyurethane foam and dacron. I'm thinking of customising one from online as I didn't purchase these from their official website. The chairs are already very comfortable without the cushions.

These are one of the best dining chairs that I've ever had, and I hope to keep them for years to come!
