Best Way To Dry Long Hair- Aquis Hair Turban Waffle Luxe Review

Many years ago, I got sponsored on Instagram by Aquis, an upcoming hair accessory brand from the UK. Nowhere in my mind did I imagine that the brand would take off as much as it did. Fast forward to today, the brand has grown into a multi-million dollar empire. I want to take this chance to revisit the brand's latest product which I got off an authorised reseller in Hong Kong- the Aquis Waffle Luxe Hair Turban.

I must admit, I have been using their hair turban since the day they sent me one. And I have NEVER stopped using it. Seriously, the towel needs replacing (it was getting really old), so I got their latest product using my own money. I want to genuinely review my experience and tell you what I think.

And since I have already been a long-time user of the original Aquis turban, I feel I can give you a very real, honest comparison and review. Note: this is not sponsored.

The New Waffle Knit Design

One of the first things I noticed was the waffle knit texture. Compared to the original smooth microfiber, this one has a bit more structure and was thicker. It feels slightly thicker but still lightweight, which I really like. The waffle pattern isn’t just pretty, but it allows the towel to pull moisture away from the hair more efficiently, kind of like how moisture-wicking activewear works. Aquis actually explains that this is because of Aquitex, their signature fabric technology.

Aquitex is designed to channel water out of your hair without rubbing, tugging, or roughing up the cuticle. For someone like me with hair that can go from silky to scarecrow-haystack very quickly, this matters.

The waffle texture also just looks more elevated and spa-like. I feel like some hair turbans can make you look like a giant chickpea, but the waffle knit actually holds shape nicely and sits more naturally on the head.

Super Fast Water Absorption

This towel drinks water. Like… drinks it. It's better than their normal hair turban.

If you have very thick hair like I do, you know the struggle: shampoo, conditioner, maybe a mask or oil treatment, rinse, rinse again, and then your hair is still dripping like a soaked mop. Traditional cotton towels just don’t cut it. They push water around more than they remove it, and they also cause friction which leads to frizz, split ends, and that fluffy-puffy crown area nobody asked for.

Aquis turbans have always been good at absorbing water, but the Waffle Luxe version feels noticeably more efficient. I wrap my hair straight after showering — no towel rubbing, just squeeze once lightly and wrap — and after about 7 to 10 minutes, my hair is already about 50% dry. I used to blow dry for what felt like forever, especially when my hair was longer. Now, the drying time is genuinely cut in half.

And no, I’m not exaggerating. I timed it.

Comfort & Fit (Especially for Longer or Thicker Hair)

My onlycomplaint about the original turban was that, on days when my hair was extra thick or when I had extensions in, the wrap felt just slightly small. It would still work, but sometimes the twist felt a bit tight.

This waffle version completely solves that. It has more stretch and more volume space, so even when I have my hair curled or voluminous, it wraps comfortably. The button and loop fastening is also more secure now — it never slips or loosens.

If you have:

  • Thick hair

  • Wavy or curly hair

  • Porous hair (i.e., hair that easily absorbs water and takes long to dry)

  • Medium to long length hair

You will love this.

It’s honestly the most comfortable hair wrap I’ve used, and I’ve tried plenty of dupes, alternatives, and knock-offs from China (Taobao hello) over the years. None compare.

The Results: Less Frizz, Less Breakage, More Shine

Because the towel removes so much water before you even begin styling, you’re not blow drying your hair for as long. Less heat exposure = healthier cuticles = shinier hair. Also, since the towel is hands-free and friction-free, you’re not roughing the hair fibers. This reduces:

  • Breakage

  • Hair fall from brushing wet hair

  • Halo frizz

  • Dry crunchiness at the ends

Since switching to Aquis years ago, I genuinely noticed that my hair holds its shape better and looks smoother naturally. I don’t have to use as many serums or leave-ins anymore unless I want to. It’s really one of those small routine upgrades that quietly improve your hair health over time.

This is how I use the Waffle Luxe Hair Turban step by step:

  1. After showering, I lightly squeeze out excess water using my hands.

  2. Flip hair forward.

  3. Place the turban on with the button at the back of my neck.

  4. Twist upwards and secure the loop to the button.

  5. Leave it on for 7–10 minutes.

  6. Remove and either air dry or use blow dryer for a much shorter time.

That’s it. Zero effort.

Who It’s Best For

You’ll benefit most from this if your hair is:

  • Thick

  • Porous

  • Wavy or straight

  • Short to medium to long length

It’s especially good for hair that is slow to dry, frizz-prone, chemically treated (bleached/permed/dyed), or frequently heat-styled.

Final Honest Thoughts

This is one of those rare products where:

  • It works exactly as promised.

  • It integrates seamlessly into your routine.

  • And the benefits accumulate over time.

I used the original Aquis hair turban for years literally until it was worn out. And when that time came, instead of looking elsewhere or trying something new, I went and bought this one myself. That says something.

And actually, I didn’t just buy one. I bought three more!

One for myself, and two as gifts. Because whenever I find something that genuinely improves quality of life, even in small ways, I want to share it with some of my girlfriends.

So yes, I highly recommend the Aquis Waffle Hair Towel. If you want healthier hair with less effort, shorter drying time, and less dependence on heat tools... this is a small but game-changing upgrade.
