Elevator Shoes For Your Boyfriend - a review of Rafarillo Australia

My man and I have recently been discussing the pros and cons of height increasing shoes. On one hand, it makes shorter men look taller and more authoritative, whether it be in the office or in a more casual setting. On the other hand, it's often hard to walk in, noticeable and not very comfortable to be wearing shoes that has a 7cm lift in the soles.

Today I've decided to try out a pair of height increasing, elevator shoes from Rafarillo Australia, a branch of the famous Rafarillo brand of shoes originating from Brazil. Rafarillo is a Brazilian enterprise established in 1991. Their factory is located in Brazil and produces over 7,000 pairs of handmade genuine bovine leather shoes per day. All their shoes are ecofriendly and Rafarillo is renowned in South America.

Here is my honest review of my first ever pair of height-increasing shoes, worn and tried by the boyfriend who is also excited about these new boots.

Quality

Since these Hoover Boots aren't cheap, the first thing I checked for was the quality of the leather used. Rafarillo states that it uses Bovine leather, a type of cow's leather which is durable and strong. Indeed, the shoe's outer part is made from tough, navy cowhide which had a velvety, suede-like texture. It isn't very waterproof but it will definitely withstand a bit of rain.

The inner part of the boots were lined with nylon, so it's quite soft and comfortable to touch. There was no wrinkling or creases on the boots.

The most important thing about shoes is that the top part is attached to the bottom part well. These boots   have rubber soles which are attached to the top part of the shoe with goodyear welting, a rubber welting which runs across the perimeter of the shoe. This is the best type of welting, unlike some cheap boots you can find from China which glue their soles on. So I can safely say that these boots are some of the top quality elevator shoes you can find.

Comfort and Fit

My boyfriend wore it and said that it fits him like a glove. He's an EU 43-44 and got the smaller size because we can loosen the laces on the boots. I'd recommend measuring your feet before buying anything online. The insoles didn't make the boots too tight, and if removed, the shoe is fits fine too.

In terms of comfort, it was easy to walk in even with the 7cm height difference. One thing I found out is that 7cm isn't actually as tall as it seems. It's not like wearing women's high heels which are extremely difficult to walk in, These shoes don't even hurt the feet even after hours of wear. My model also said that he could have ran a mile in these shoes without them feeling uncomfortable. Overall, it's a very sturdy and comfortable pair of boots.

Design

These boots are made from 100% leather and had leather straps and a rubber sole. It also featured zip-up sides, which means that it's quite easy to wear and convenient if you want to slip in and out of them during the day. The laces are slightly hard to do up but it's totally manageable if you undo the knots on the side. I love the colour of the shoe- it comes in navy and dark brown and looks very stylish if paired with a pair of jeans, chinos and a blazer. They looked exactly like the photos on the Rafarillo website!

The insoles themselves were free and totally removable, so it's worth it even if it's just for the extra soles that you can use if you want to go sole-less for a day.

Noticeability

Whether the height-increasing soles are noticeable or not was probably my biggest concern when I first thought about getting these shoes. Would Rafarillo shoes be very noticeable and obvious? Naturally, my boyfriend and I wouldn't want people to know that he was wearing height-increasing shoes. But won't 7cm show up, especially since it's, well, 7cm?

The short answer is that it isn't obvious at all. I was initially really skeptical but the boots were quite solid and thick, so Rafarillo hid the insoles really well. The bottom is also height-increasing as it's around 3cm thick, but there was no heel on the shoe as you can see in my pictures. The insoles were also around 3cm thick, and the Rafarillo soles actually didn't show up on the outside of the shoe. I think that getting boots will help in terms of hiding the visibility of the soles. I'm quite pleased with these "hidden" heels!

Cost

One of the best things about Rafarillo is that Rafarillo has shoes ranging from AUD $180 to AUD $280 - this price range is on the medium-end of most of the elevator shoe brands that I've come across. It's not too expensive but not too cheap, which is good because shoes that are too cheap (like those from China) are usually very clunky and low-quality.

My boots were around $280 which was reasonable for a pair of casual lace-up leather boots. I'd say that the boots were quite reasonably priced overall.

Delivery and returns

I ordered my shoe on their site at mid-week and it was dispatched to me on Friday. I received it via an Express post from the Australian post, which meant that I got it within 3-4 days. That's a pretty impressive shipping time! Rafarillo also offers returns and refunds if the product is returned within 2 weeks, so even if you get the wrong size, it's not really a problem.

Overall, if you're needing a pair of elevator shoes that are high quality and retails for a decent price, then I'd recommend giving Rafarillo a go. The only thing is that Rafarillo only sell shoes which increase your height by 7cm, which means that you can't change the height of the shoe.
