The Best Orthodontics Clinic In Oxford - Accessible Orthodontics Review

Two years ago, I got a chance to get my "perfect" smile when I got invisible plastic braces fitted for my upper and lower teeth. The whole process involved me wearing retainers everyday which acted to slowly shift my teeth into a more aligned position. This experience was incredible and it transformed my crooked teeth completely- now, both my bottom and upper teeth are completely straight.

After my treatment ended in October this year, I was given two sets of plastic aligners to wear every night. I struggled to wear these regularly, not only because I'm rather forgetful but also because plastic retainers are notoriously difficult to clean. My retainers quickly became cloudy and I really wanted a better option to keep my smile than to wear plastic retainers. My front tooth (the most crooked tooth) also moved every time I took my retainers out so it was pretty frustrating to say the least!

I found Accessible Orthdontics through a simple search for the best Orthodontics Practise in Oxford. I was very impressed by their user-friendly website which contained a lot of information about the different types of Specialist treatments that they offered. They're a leading provider of invisible treatment options including Invisalign, Incognito Lingual braces, ceramic braces, metallic braces and appliances/retainers. Accessible Orthodontics specialises in all sorts of methods that could straighten and re-align your teeth whether it be for cometic or non-cosmetic reasons.

Accessible Orthodontics has a long-standing history in Oxford as it has been opened for over 16 years and treated over 5000 patients in its time. They treat a lot of university students who are seeking Specialised Orthodontics Treatments while completing their studies at Oxford. They also another practice in Thame as well as Oxford and they offer the same high-quality treatment options for everyone.

I was drawn to Accessible Orthodontics because they provided a very reasonably-priced option for treating my problem- namely bonded retainers which could be glued inside the back of my teeth. Bonded retainers are beneficial because they ensure the hard work that was put in while wearing braces doesn’t go to waste.

Teeth will have a tendency to relapse or move back to where they started especially in the first few months after braces have been removed and if you're not wearing retainers constantly. Because they are placed only on the back of front teeth, they are more aesthetically pleasing than other retainer option, which is exactly something I'm looking for!

In terms of the cost of my Treatment, each jaw costs £250 which is well-priced compared to many other clinics you'll find in Oxford and London. Though you can see costs for all of their Treatment options on their website and a full quote and Treatment plan will be presented to you after your initial consultation. I decided to go for this treatment option and I want to talk about my honest experience trying out Accessible Orthodontics for the first time. But first, take a look below at some of the pictures of my journey getting bonded retainers!

I called in to book an appointment and the lovely receptionist arranged a date and time for me. The clinic is located in Oxford's Beaumont Street, which was one of the most centrally located areas in the city centre. As I'm a student living in Jericho, the clinic was extremely convenient and easy to find. It's also accessible by car or walking via the Oxford train station. There's a great public transport network around the clinic which means that its accessible even if you live outside the city centre.

In terms of what happened when I initially entered the clinic, I was greeted by the friendly receptionist team at the front desk and they helped me check my booking and registration. I was then asked to take a seat in their lovely waiting room which had a lot of cozy sofas. The waiting area was large, bright and airy, so it was pretty comfortable! The clinic itself was quite large and spacious, which is pretty rare for clinics in central Oxford as they're usually cramped and small.

After a few moments, I was called upstairs to the dental treatment room where Dr. Nestor greeted me. He introduced himself and his assistant, and then explained the whole procedure clearly to me. Nestor told me that I was going to get bonded retainers glued to the first 6 teeth in both jaws. This process would take around 45 minutes and afterwards, the bonded retainer fixed onto the back of the teeth would ensure I don't have to worry about any of them shifting places anymore. He was very clear when he explained to me what was about to happen, so there was no surprises at all. I really appreciated this, because I have had negative experiences at other clinics where the procedures weren't explained to me very well.

In terms of the procedure, Nestor was extremely professional and gently handled the whole treatment well. He first cleaned my teeth and made sure that there was no dirt or food left on the surfaces. He then applied a lightweight wire across the back of my teeth and fixed it in place using bonding material that was hardened using UV light. This whole process didn't take very long, and Nestor answered all my questions (even the silly ones) along the way. At the end, the dentist took a 3D scan of my teeth in order to customise retainers for me as my back teeth required retainers even though I had bonded ones stuck to the front teeth. Accessible Orthodontics uses the latest technology to do these scans and I was really impressed with how easy it was to create a model of my jaw!

In terms of what happened after the treatment, the receptionists at Accessible Orthodontics organised another date for me to pick up and try on my new retainers and were extremely polite and friendly throughout the whole process. My bonded retainers worked extremely well and the whole process was incredibly pain-free and pleasant! In fact, I could even safely say that I enjoyed going to the Orthodontists- for once!

Overall, Accessible Orthodontics is one of the best clinics to get braces and retainers in Oxford. I'm very impressed with the professionalism of their staff and Orthodontists. Their beautiful and spacious clinic was welcoming, brightly-lit and centrally-located, making it easy to find for students and locals alike. Their pricing is extremely reasonable as well, which means that students like myself would be able to afford to get a better smile without the huge costs that are usually associated with braces!

Best of all, the practice offers student discounts to students who are studying around Oxford and free assessment for patients under the age of 18, so all you have to do is call and ask if you want to book an appointment! I cannot recommend Accessible Orthodontics enough!
