Designer Thrift Haul- Artemide Logico Ceiling Lamp Review

Hey lovelies! Time for another designer thrift haul post! Some people go thrifting for vintage denim, old records, or that one vase that may or may not have belonged to someone’s glamorous auntie. Me? I somehow ended up on the hunt for designer lighting. Not just any lighting, but the kind of lighting that makes you pause, stare, and suddenly imagine yourself as a much more sophisticated version of yourself.

That is how I found the Artemide Logico ceiling lamp.

This is my designer thrift haul story and my honest Artemide Logico ceiling lamp review after seeing it, wanting it, debating it and buying it.

How I Found The Artemide Logico Ceiling Lamp

The first time I saw the Artemide Logico ceiling lamp, I did not immediately think, “Oh yes, this is a practical purchase.” No. My first thought was something closer to, “Wow, this looks expensive, intelligent, and slightly intimidating.”

The Logico ceiling lamp has this beautiful sculptural glass shade that feels almost organic. It does not look like a normal lamp. It looks like a cloud that went to design school in Italy, graduated top of the class, and now lives in a tastefully renovated apartment with walnut cabinetry and a very opinionated espresso machine.

It has that soft, folded glass shape that feels architectural without being cold. I love lighting that looks considered, but not overly loud. The Artemide Logico sits in that perfect middle ground. It is clearly a designer ceiling lamp, but it's quite subtle.

Why I Wanted a Designer Ceiling Lamp

I have been slowly becoming more interested in interior design, especially pieces that make a home feel calm, minimal, and a little luxurious. I do not want my home in Hong Kong to feel like a furniture showroom where everything is too perfect and nobody is allowed to sit down. I want it to feel lived-in, but still refined.

Lighting makes such a huge difference. You can have a nice sofa, beautiful flooring, and expensive curtains, but if the lighting is wrong, the whole room feels like a hospital waiting area. Harsh ceiling lights are the enemy of ambience...

The Artemide Logico ceiling lamp appealed to me because it gives a room presence. It is not just a light source. It is a design object. It changes the feeling of the ceiling, the mood of the space, and frankly, my own mood when I look at it.

There is something very satisfying about finding a designer lamp second-hand. It feels like I have somehow beaten the system, which is always a nice bonus.

Buying Artemide Second-Hand: Was It Worth It?

Buying a designer lamp second-hand is slightly more stressful than buying a second-hand side table. With a table, you can usually see the scratches, wobble it a bit, and decide if you are willing to live with its little personality issues. With a ceiling lamp, there are more questions.

Is the glass chipped? Are the fittings complete? Does it still work? Was it removed properly? Will my electrician judge me?

Luckily, the Artemide Logico I found was in good condition. The glass was the main thing I cared about because that is the heart of the design. Artemide is known for beautiful, high-quality lighting, and the Logico series is especially recognisable because of its blown-glass diffuser and sculptural form.

I checked the shade carefully because with a lamp like this, even a small crack would bother me. Not because I am perfect, but because I know myself. I would stare at that crack every day and slowly become a less joyful person.

The second-hand price ($800 HKD) made the lamp much more attractive. Brand-new Artemide lighting can be very expensive, and understandably so. But finding it through a thrift or resale route made the purchase feel much more worth it.

What Makes the Artemide Logico Special?

The best thing about the Artemide Logico ceiling lamp is the glass. The shade has this soft, wave-like shape that looks almost like folded fabric, except it is glass. That contrast is what makes it so interesting.

When unlit, it already looks beautiful. The glass has a milky, satin-like quality that adds texture without looking busy. When lit, it becomes warmer and softer. The light diffuses through the glass in a very flattering way, which is exactly what I want from a ceiling lamp.

This is not the kind of ceiling light that blasts the room with aggressive brightness. It is more atmospheric. It gives a gentle glow that makes the room feel more expensive than it probably is. The shape also works surprisingly well with different interior styles. I can imagine it in a modern apartment, a Japanese-inspired minimalist home, a warm contemporary living room, or even a slightly eclectic designer space.

I love how it adds a sculptural element above eye level. Most of us think about furniture, rugs, and artwork, but the ceiling often gets ignored. A beautiful ceiling lamp draws the room upward and makes the whole space feel more complete.

It also gives a quiet designer touch without making the home feel like a museum. I do not want every guest to walk in and immediately ask about the lamp, although I would not complain if they did. I want the room to feel harmonious.

Practical Considerations Before Buying

As much as I love the Artemide Logico ceiling lamp, I would not say it is for everyone or every space.

First, you need to think about ceiling height. Because the shade has volume and presence, it works best where it has enough breathing room. If your ceiling is very low, you may want to check the dimensions carefully so it does not feel heavy or intrusive.

Second, installation matters. This is not a tiny plastic ceiling light you casually twist into place while standing on a chair and making poor life choices. It deserves proper installation by someone who knows what they are doing. I had to pay someone a high fee to install it- so I ended up spending around the same price as I actually did to purchase it.

Third, the glass needs care. It is not something I would place in a chaotic area where people are constantly moving large objects around.

Fourth, think about brightness. If you want extremely bright task lighting, this may not be enough on its own. I see it more as ambient or general lighting, depending on the room size and bulb setup. You may still want floor lamps, wall lights, or spotlights to layer the lighting properly.

Is the Artemide Logico Ceiling Lamp Still Worth Buying?

The Artemide Logico ceiling lamp is worth buying if you love designer lighting, appreciate sculptural glass, and want a ceiling lamp that feels timeless rather than trendy. It does not feel like something that will look dated in two years. It has that classic Italian design quality where the form is interesting, but not gimmicky.

Buying it second-hand made the whole experience even better. I love the idea of giving a beautiful object another life. Designer lighting is often made to last, and it feels wasteful when pieces like this are forgotten or replaced just because someone changed their interior style.

Would I recommend buying it second-hand? For sure- yes! But only if you check the condition carefully and make sure the fittings are complete.

For anyone looking for a designer ceiling lamp that feels artistic but still livable, the Artemide Logico is a fantastic choice. It has the rare ability to look special without trying too hard. And honestly, that is exactly the kind of lamp I want in my home.
