A bit about the brand- founded by Laura-Marie Nixey, NIXEY's bags are inspired by the rich tapestry and designs of the British Isles. NIXEY’s 1834 collection pays tribute to this by reinventing the Celtic sporran, a classic piece of national Scottish, Irish and British military dress. Each of their bags are carefully made by a leather sporran makers’ workshop based in the Scottish Highlands. Every piece is a work of art and takes a lot of time to make- from cutting and sewing the leather to hand-fitting more than 30 metal components. The business is based in London, but NIXEY's bags are worn all across the world by fashionistas like you and me.
My 1834 Chestnut arrived in a compact box and a beautiful NIXEY bag. Shipping was incredibly fast, and I was amazed when I opened the package to find the gorgeous bag. In terms of the design, the lovely bag had a chestnut leather outer, which gave off a very classic and British aesthetic. There are 3 leather tassel chains on the outside, which added to the Scottish and Celtic vibe of the bag. The bag looks small, but is actually quite large as the inside leather compartment is expandable.
The bag's design is based off the leather sporran, which is an accessory worn by the highland warriors over a Scottish kilt (a skirt with no pockets). This modern reworking of the sporran by NIXEY looks very much like the traditional thing, but has a modern edge to it as it can be transformed from a shoulder bag, a cross body bag to a festival waist bag. I chose to wear it on my waist because it was so convenient not to have anything on my upper body, and it looks ultra stylish too!
Quality-wise, NIXEY really produces the finest quality bags that I've ever seen. Everything is manufactured to the highest precision and detail. The stitchings on the bag are perfect, and everything seems to be made perfectly. The master sporran makers who create each piece draw on a rich manufacturing history, which extends back to 1834.
I absolutely adore my NIXEY bag, and I think it's incredible how fashion design can combine the best of the old and the new. My 1834 bag looks unique and got a lot of compliments from strangers, who asked me where to get this bag!
So nice! Love this! :)

This bag is actually really cute! I really like the size - it looks small enough not to be hindrance but big enough to fit in the important things.
